Frequently asked questions
Can I extract text from a scanned PDF?
Only if the scan includes a text layer. If no selectable text is found, run OCR with a separate OCR tool first, then extract the resulting text.
Can I choose a page range?
Yes. Enter individual pages and ranges such as 1-3, 6. Pages outside the document are rejected.
Are line breaks preserved?
Yes. You can preserve PDF text line breaks or join text items into flowing paragraphs.
Can I copy the extracted text?
Yes. Use Copy to place the result on your clipboard, or download a UTF-8 TXT file.
Is the PDF uploaded?
No. PDF.js reads the PDF and extracts its text locally in your browser.
What happens with password-protected PDFs?
Unlock the PDF with its known password first, then choose the unlocked copy.
