Your files stay on your device. This page explains the little information we do handle, and the choices you have.

Overview
This policy explains how File ICU (https://www.fileicu.com) handles information when you use the website and its tools. “File ICU”, “we” and “us” refer to the people who run the site.
In short: files and text you open in a File ICU tool are processed by your own browser and are never sent to us. We only receive information you choose to send, such as a message through the contact form. Analytics and advertising are off unless you turn them on.
Information we handle
Files and text you use in tools
Every current tool runs in your browser. Your files and text are read and processed on your device, and are not uploaded to File ICU. We cannot see, open or keep them. The next section lists each tool and how it works.
Contact form messages
If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, subject and message. They are delivered to our inbox by email and are not stored in a database on the website. We use them only to reply to you. To block spam, the form also checks a hidden field and how long the form was open before it was sent.
Emails you send us
If you email us directly, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message, and use it only to respond.
Your cookie choice
Your analytics and advertising choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so we can remember it on your next visit. It stays on your device. See the Cookie Policy for details.
Technical data
Like any website, pages are delivered over the internet by our hosting provider, Cloudflare. To do this, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, the page requested and your browser type, and may keep short-lived logs for security and reliability. We do not use this data to identify you or build a profile of you.
How each tool processes files
In your browser means your device does all the work and the file never leaves it. On a server means the file would be uploaded to produce the result. This list is generated automatically from our tool catalog, so it is always current.
Of the 81 tools in the catalog, 81 run entirely in your browser and 0 upload files to a server.
No tool in the catalog currently uploads your files or text to a File ICU server.

Tools with extra network activity
These tools still process your input in your browser, but involve a related network request worth knowing about:
- OCR PDF and Image to Text: Your file is read in your browser. On first use the browser downloads the OCR engine and the selected language data from the jsDelivr CDN (cdn.jsdelivr.net). Your file is not part of those requests, but jsDelivr receives ordinary request data such as your IP address.
- Text to Speech: Text is passed to your browser’s speech synthesis. Some browsers and operating systems provide network-based voices; if your device uses one, your browser may send the text to that voice provider. File ICU does not receive it.
How long we keep information
- Files and text in tools: never received by us, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete. Your browser holds them in memory only while you use a tool and releases them when you start over, close the tab or leave the page. Files you download are saved on your device and are yours to manage.
- Contact messages and emails: kept only as long as we need them to answer you and handle any follow-up. You can ask us to delete your message at any time by emailing privacy@fileicu.com.
- Your cookie choice: kept in your browser until you change it or clear your browser data.
Analytics
We do not currently use any analytics service, and no analytics scripts are loaded. If we add one, it will only run after you allow it, and we will update this policy first.
Advertising
We do not currently show ads, and no ad scripts are loaded. If we add advertising, it will only appear after you allow it, and we will update this policy first. Ads never have access to your files or the text you process.

Each of these providers handles data under its own privacy policy. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it except with these providers to run the site.
International transfers
Our providers operate worldwide, so technical data and messages you send us may be processed outside your country. Where the law requires it, we rely on the safeguards these providers offer for international transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS and uses standard browser security headers. Because tools run in your browser, your files never travel across the internet to us. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot protect against problems on your own device, such as malware or untrusted browser extensions, so take care when handling sensitive documents on shared computers.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or US state privacy laws, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict how it is used, to receive a copy of it, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
- Change or withdraw your cookie choice at any time with Cookie Settings.
- For any other request, email privacy@fileicu.com from the address you used to contact us. We will reply within 30 days.
Children
File ICU is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email privacy@fileicu.com and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
