Frequently asked questions
What does High quality do?
It re-saves the PDF while preserving page text, vector graphics, and images. It may reduce size slightly, leave it unchanged, or make it larger.
What does Small size do?
It renders pages to JPEG images and builds a new PDF. This often reduces size but makes page text unselectable and can soften fine details.
Will every PDF become smaller?
No. The result depends on how the original was encoded. Compare the reported sizes and keep the original if the output is larger or quality is not acceptable.
Are my pages uploaded?
No. Rendering and PDF creation run locally in your browser using PDF.js and a Web Worker.
Does compression change my source file?
No. The tool creates a new PDF download and leaves the original unchanged.
