The simple rules for using File ICU, and what you can expect from us.

Accepting these terms

These terms apply to your use of File ICU (https://www.fileicu.com). By using the site you agree to them, and to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

The service

File ICU offers free online tools for PDFs, images, text, developer tasks and everyday calculations. No account is needed. Tools run in your browser, and the Privacy Policy lists how each one works. We may add, change or remove tools at any time.

Acceptable use

When using File ICU, you agree not to:

  • break the law or infringe anyone else’s rights, including copyright and privacy;
  • open, unlock, edit or change documents you do not own or are not allowed to access. The Unlock PDF tool only removes a password you already know; it is not a way around access controls;
  • disrupt, overload or attack the site, scrape it at a harmful volume, or test it for security weaknesses without our permission;
  • use the contact form to send spam, malware or unlawful content;
  • interfere with the site’s advertising or consent features.

Your responsibilities

  • Keep backups. Tools create new files and leave your originals unchanged, but you are responsible for the files you keep or delete.
  • Check your results. Review the output before you rely on it or share it, especially OCR text, document comparisons, signed or edited PDFs, and calculations.
  • Know the limits of each tool. For example, cropping a PDF hides content but does not securely remove it (use Redact PDF for that), and a drawn signature is not a certified digital signature.
  • Use files you have the right to use.
  • Look after your device. Keep your browser up to date and take care with sensitive documents on shared or public computers.

Your files and our content

Your files and the results you create are yours. Because the tools run in your browser, we never receive your files and claim no rights to them. If you send us a message, you allow us to use it to reply to you and to improve the site.

The File ICU name, logo, design and code belong to us. You may use the site as intended, but you may not copy or reuse them without our permission.

Service limitations

  • Tools have limits, such as a maximum file size (25 MB per file for most file tools), and performance depends on your browser and device.
  • Some tools need a modern browser with features such as Web Workers and WebAssembly.
  • OCR and other automatic tools can make mistakes. The OCR tool downloads its engine from a third-party service the first time you use it.
  • The site may sometimes be unavailable, slow or changed without notice. We do not guarantee any particular uptime.
  • Calculators and health, finance and date tools give estimates for general information only. They are not professional, medical, financial or legal advice.

Disclaimers

File ICU is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we make no promises that the tools will be error-free, uninterrupted or secure, that they will suit a particular purpose, or that their results will be accurate or complete.

We do not control, and are not responsible for, third-party websites, services or ads that the site links to or shows.

Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, File ICU and the people who run it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, profits or business, that results from using or being unable to use the site.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, or affects rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using File ICU at any time. We may limit or end access to the site, a tool or the contact form, with or without notice, if we believe these terms are being broken, to protect the site or other people, or if we change or close the service. The sections on your files and our content, disclaimers and liability continue to apply afterwards.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where File ICU is operated. If you live in another country, you also keep any protections that its consumer laws give you and that cannot be excluded by agreement.

Changes and contact
